Choosing Your Specialty After Graduation from Medical School

"Deciding on the specialty that suits me best. For Doctors" course is about the three main options that are available for doctors after graduation from medical school.

 

The first option is to work as a clinician. A detailed description of the requisites of being a clinician is presented and also a description of the five main categories of clinical medicine that each includes a list of specialties to choose from. Tools that a doctor needs to make the decision of the most suitable specialty are then discussed.

 

The second option is to work as a doctor but not as a clinician. The reasons why some graduates might choose to go for this option is discussed and a lot list of medical non-clinical careers is presented with a description of each.

 

The last option is quitting medicine. Although this is a rather unlikely option to happen but it still happens and that's why it still deserves to be dealt with and discussed.

 

The course ends with a personality assessment for the attendees as personality traits and characteristics tend to play the most important role in several stations in each doctor's life including the station of career choice.
